We were in Sitka, Alaska when I caught these two in the top of a Christmas tree. Every time I look at this picture I think, Sheesh…they always look mad!

A corn crib at the edge of a clearing on some land in Clark County, Alabama. It dates to the 1870s…so it’s around 150 years old.

I know it looks like a cartoon drawing—that shape, those shades of blue—but it’s a Little Blue Heron. Not exactly rare, but this was the first one I’d ever seen!

This is one of my favorite outdoor shots and it was a total accident. I snapped off a couple of photos of the doe and never knew her baby was behind her until I downloaded the picture. The yearling is a dozen yards behind the doe…posed just like her mama.

I love to look closely at something…then, closer still. This is an extreme close up of the scales on a Red Snapper. I think it would make great wall paper!

Triplets! Their mom was just out of camera range. She looked too tired to pose for a picture anyway. Triplets, ya know...

In Seattle, they call it a Seahawk, but everywhere else it’s an osprey. I had just stepped out the back door with the camera in my hand when this guy flew over!

I like sunsets, but sunrises are better. There are always fewer people, so you can soak in more of the colors by yourself!

In Orange Beach, Alabama, I live only a 20 minute drive from Pensacola Naval Air Station, home of the Blue Angels. This is not an unusual sight in our neighborhood. The “Blues” practice over us several times each week!

In Orange Beach, we have a White Christmas every year. Yes, it IS sand, but it’s white!

It was 30 degrees. I was up in a tree stand waiting to photograph some animals. Right at dark, God showed up instead.
