Life is often compared to a book. For most of us, there are many chapters. Some lay the foundation for what’s ahead. Others explode with excitement and celebration. And, of course, some are filled with conflict or loss.
Our stories unfold—sometimes exactly as we planned, and other times not even close. Some events are completely out of our control. Occasionally, we get sidetracked by unprofitable goals. As for me, there have been times I wished for a do-over. But then came a new season. And now, together, the chapters of my life make for a pretty good read.
Other people have difficult chapters, too. I’m grateful for those who didn’t permanently “write me off” during my rough ones. I hope I can offer the same grace to others. Because when we close the book on someone too soon, we might miss their best chapters—the ones still being written.
We are the sum of all our chapters. One teenage rebellion, midlife crisis, or season of depression doesn’t define a person. Anyone’s life can become a story of redemption.
Today’s “Peace of Wisdom” can be found when we remember we all have unfinished stories.
