When you feel tempted to judge someone or respond in kind, bite your tongue…pinch yourself…count to ten…whatever works for you in the moment. Just don’t say something you’ll regret..
I know. People are increasingly rude, disinterested, distracted, rushed, or just plain mean. But people are also hurting.
What if the lady who just snapped at you is grieving the death of a child?
That new mama who just about ran into you in the parking lot? Maybe she just left the house for a few minutes of peace and quiet, and her patience is hanging by a thread.
What if the elderly gentleman who appeared to ignore you can’t hear very well?
The people we encounter every day, whether they’re family, coworkers, or complete strangers are often silently facing the same kinds of struggles we are. How we respond can make a lot of difference.
An understanding smile, a caring question, or an offer of assistance can go a long way in encouraging others as we go about our lives.

I appreciate compassion, because nobody knows what someone else is going through. I try to remind myself every day to smile, say a kind word, and give a positive thought because you may be the difference of pushing someone already on edge over the edge or you can be an answer to a prayer. I prefer to show compassion and be the answer to a prayer.
