One weekend a young woman drove to her hometown to visit her father. They spent the day together, and on leaving she promised to see him again soon. He smiled with gratitude as they said their goodbyes.
The next morning she received an unexpected phone call. Dad was gone.
The chapel could barely contain those who’d come to pay their respects. The funeral was standing room only. The impact her father had on people was evident. Through her grief, the young woman realized this was a life well lived.
How do we define a good life? Social media will tell you it’s having enough money to do what you want. Go where you want to go.
But after we’ve seen what we wanted to see and done what we wanted to do, what then?
Connection with others is one thing that will last.
You can make people feel valued and let them know they matter. From the cashier to your coworkers or classmates. And your family at home.
Today’s Peace of Wisdom can be found when we make others a priority.
