Can’t Leave It Behind
with Jimmy Yeary

Jimmy was raised in a little town named Hillsboro, Ohio. One particular morning, he was really homesick and wishing he could–at least for a moment–return to the place he’d grown up. The more he thought about it, the more it became clear that he had never really left at all. He realized that even today, when he goes fishing, he remembers being a young boy at Rocky Fork Lake, about 10 minutes from his childhood home…

“I see the pier lights,” Jimmy says.  “I smell the kerosene lantern. I feel the wax paper coming off of the bologna and cheese sandwich that my father made. Whenever I cross a small, lonely bridge, I can’t help but remember the countless hours swimming in the creek below the bridge near our house.”

Jimmy was quiet for a minute before concluding, “You know, you can drive as far away as you want, but when it’s all said and done, you never really leave the place you grew up. Can’t Leave It Behind became an obvious title for this song.  Authentic emotion is a glorious songwriter.”
