Gratitude

By Andy Andrews

Growing up, most of us were taught that the words ‘thank’ and  ‘you’ were a good combination. Most of us learned to say thank you. It’s a little thing that makes a big difference, and often, that difference comes in the form of opportunities gained or lost.

To those who say thank you, jobs are offered, time is shared, and because of these reactions, a more successful life is often the result.  Those who are not actively grateful often end up wondering what happened or why they were left behind.

While being grateful is not about personal gain, great results are a consistent consequence for people who make certain that others feel validated and appreciated for what they do.

So, go the extra mile when thanking someone. Look into their eyes instead of around the room.   Honoring another person should not be an afterthought.  Instead of a “thank you,” try ‘thank you very much’ or an ‘I really appreciate you and what you have accomplished.’  Showing a greater degree of appreciation might take some practice, but the results will be worth the effort.

Today’s Peace of Wisdom can be found in an expanded expression of gratitude.
