Most people smile when they’re happy…but did you know smiling can make you happier?
A smile boosts your immune system, lowers blood pressure, and can even lead to a longer life. Our brains are hardwired to smile when we encounter something positive.
So, what if we decided to fool our brains into believing something uninteresting, or even stressful, was something good? Can we trick our brains into feeling happier, even when we aren’t?
As it turns out, the power of a smile can reduce stress, even when we fake it. When we smile, our brains release endorphins that boost our mood and happiness levels.
So try smiling the next time you encounter a tricky situation and see how it changes you – because the reality is, worry and regret don’t serve us. Smiling can enable us to see past the negativity, and into new possibilities that may give us a better outlook on the challenges we face.
We have the power to decide whether an experience is a negative or positive one, so consider smiling and MAKING your experience a good one. As they say, “smile and the world smiles back at you.”
Today’s Peace of Wisdom can be found in smiling through the storm.
