Peace of Wisdom

Inconvenience

By Andy Andrews

Bob Van Dillen is an Atlanta meteorologist. He reported live as rain from the destructive Hurricane Helene pounded the area relentlessly. A woman behind him screamed when flood waters filled her car. Van Dillen stopped his broadcast, waded to the car, and waded back to safety with the woman on his back.

The father of one of our Wisdom Harbour writers was relaxing on his sofa one evening when he received a phone call to visit a dying friend. He got up and went…and was glad he did.

Opportunity is often inconvenient. We may not feel like it. It interferes with our plans. And it gets uncomfortable. But if we don’t do it, who will?

Time isn’t lost if you comfort the scared and lonely, mentor the young, or are there for your family. It’s time invested.

I’m not telling you to risk your life and plunge into dangerous flood waters. But we can be open to the situation in front of us.

When you serve others, an amazing thing happens.

You just might find they ministered to you more than you did them.

Today’s Peace of Wisdom can be found when you allow yourself to be inconvenienced.
