Peace of Wisdom

Humble and Kind

By Andy Andrews

Rudeness and impatience seem to prevail in today’s world. But kindness and flexibility can still be found.

When encountering hostile behavior, we often ignore it – and rightly so. Better to turn away than to be ugly back. If your mother was like mine, you heard her say a million times: “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”  Of course, Two Wrights can make an airplane…but that’s beside the point.

Additionally, when we’re blessed by those who are compassionate and empathetic toward us, it’s all too easy to ignore those good things, too. And, that’s not right either!

We should express our appreciation to those who show us patience and grace. If someone says, “Take all the time you need,” don’t interpret that as “take all the time you want.” Show gratitude and respect. Work as hard as you can. Offer them the same consideration they extended to you.

“Be humble and kind,” Tim McGraw sang to the top of the Billboard charts. We know it’s the best way to be. But sometimes, it takes an intentional effort to hold our tongues and do the right thing. I guess that’s why he did that song.

Today’s Peace of Wisdom can be found in recognizing thoughtfulness and responding with the same.
