We’ve talked before about individual cultures – every business has a culture, every family has a culture. And of course, every city has their culture too. Does your city have a culture? Yes, it does.
How do I stay relevant as a parent to my child who is 34 years old?
It all starts with value. You stay relevant by being valuable. You know, your child is an adult. This is a 34 year old human being. And, and the decisions you’re child is making our adult decisions and they’re making adult decisions about where they spend their time and who they spend their time with and, and who they listen to and who they don’t listen to and who they seek out for help and who they don’t.
Do businesses have their own culture?
Absolutely. Businesses have their own culture. Businesses have their own culture, families have their own culture, a teams have their own culture, towns, communities, neighborhoods have their own culture. And so when you think about it, of course businesses have their own culture.

Not to be a smart-aleck right off the bat…but how do you get a raise at your job? You need to be worth it. Maybe I should say—obviously worth it. You want to create massive value. You want to think like the owner.
Is being different from your spouse a good thing in marriage?
Actually, it’s a necessary thing, not just a good things, a necessary thing. Polly and I’ve been married a while, but I remember early on, maybe in the first couple of years, I remember thinking, oh my gosh, I remember Polly and I coming to the conclusion or the awareness and we didn’t really talk about it a lot.
Can a parent give their child too much?
Yes, parents can give children too much, especially teenagers. And I see it happen all the time. I watch it and I’m baffled sometimes as to how parents are unable to look forward into their child’s life and understand how do you not understand what’s going to happen here.
How can a person use their dreams to help other people?
Your dreams actually should be lined up in a way and examined in a way that they will help other people. I got to say, that if your dreams are selfish dreams, they’re not really worth pursuing.
How does a person balance dreaming and longing for “more” with being personally content?
I believe personal contentment is either beyond money or beside money. Personal contentment is something that has to do with joy if we were talking about happiness. But happiness comes and goes.
What if I am making an effort to improve my personal development but my spouse is not?
Well that’s a tough situation. But, that’s why they call it personal development because you can’t do it for anybody else. This is a huge source of confusion in all kinds of relationships, especially marriages.

How could I encourage my teenager to be a leader at school and with her friends?
I think the first thing to point out is that you can only encourage your teenager to be a leader at school with friends. You’re not going to be able to make her me a leader. I point that out because sometimes I hear the question, how do I encourage my child do this?
